THE COLBYS #2.08 "Deceptions"
As promised, here is now the following episode of "The Colbys" featuring Jeff and Miles' final dogfight and one of the show's most exciting (though over-the-top) cliffhangers.
ORIGINAL AIRDATE: Thursday, November 13, 1986 at 9:00-10:00 pm EST/PDT on the ABC TV Network.
TV RATINGS: 62nd (out of 68 shows)
TV GUIDE SYNOPSIS: Sable learns of a legal method to prove that Miles is the father of Fallon's child.
I have just realized that YouTube (at some point in the past) extended the maximum allowed length of a video from 10 to 15 minutes, so the episode is now split into 4 parts (I'll try to keep the original division of the episode whenever possible).
I personally love this episode - it's always great to see Sable and her son being naughty and plotting against the rest of the family, while Jason is caught in the middle of the two camps.
Although I initially found Monica's storyline somewhat tedious, I loved the addition of senator's boozy wife and the drama she brought along. Bliss' somewhat sleep-inducing romance should also get more exciting in the next couple of weeks.
TRIVIA: When this episode of "The Colbys" aired the press reported that TV critics picked Aaron Spelling's new sitcom with Lucille Ball "Life with Lucy" and "Dynasty" spin-off "The Colbys" as the season's worst shows. The viewership levels reflected that as both shows were "comatose in the ratings."

IMO, I don't think Bliss was needed for the Colbys and it showed. They just didn't know what to do with that character.
ReplyDeleteMaverick
As I recall, Bliss was written out in the Season 2 Finale.
ReplyDeleteYes, Bliss' final appearance is in the penultimate episode of "The Colbys." If the show had continued she would no longer have been in it.
ReplyDeleteGreat cliffhanger ! A bit over the top, but hey, the producers went further later in the season :-)
ReplyDeleteStrange that there was no mention in this episode of Channing faking her barrenness.
I think Claire Yarlett was a better actress than Tracy Scoggins, adding irony to her part. But her character was dull.
excellent episode! Thanks for posting!
