DYNASTY (ABC) Episode Guide: SEASON 1 (1981)



This episode guide (which I will post in a series of nine articles) will give you a more comprehensive look at the original scheduling of DYNASTY on the ABC TV network, including all reruns, pre-emptions, day and time changes, TV Guide episode synopses, etc.

January 12     "Pilot" #1.01

               The patriarch of an ultra-wealthy Denver oil family uleashes strong feelings of anger and resentment when he marries a corporation secretary.

January 19    "The Honeymoon" #1.02

              Blake and Krystle's global honeymoon is disrupted when foreign rebels take over his company's oil tankers.

January 26    "The Dinner Party" #1.03
              Fallon overhears Matthew's admission to Krystle that he still loves her.

February 2    "Fallon's Wedding" #1.04

              Cecil Colby holds Fallon Carrington to their bargain and Matthew Blaisdel learns that there is a spy on his crew of wildcatters

February 9    pre-empted by John Steinbeck's "East of Eden" mini-series (part 2 of 2) aired: 9:00-11:00pm

February 16    "The Chauffeur Tells a Secret #1.05
               Michael's spying uncovers the deal Fallon made with Colby and leads to an explosive confrontation between Fallon and her father.

February 23    "The Bordello" #1.06

               Krystle pawns her jewelry to help out Matthew Blaisdel after his oil rig is sabotaged again

March 2        "Krystle's Lie" #1.07 & "The Necklace" #1.08 (two episodes, back-to-back 9:00pm-11:00pm)

               Blake learns Krystle is on the pill; Matthew confronts the person who wrecked his oil rig; Fallon's attempt to seduce Michael leads to a damaging revelation.
      
March 9       "The Beating" #1.09
              Michael is beaten by a pair of unknown assailants and Blake finds out about Steven's involvement with Matthew's wife

March 16      "The Birthday Party" #1.10
              Fallon comes to Krystle's aid and tells Matthew of her arrangement with Blake; and Steven's former lover returns to Denver to seek a reconcilliation

March 23      "The Separation" #1.11
              Blake finds Steven and Ted embracing; and Krystle makes a drastic decision after a confrontation with Blake over the fake necklace

March 30      pre-empted by 53rd Annual Academy Awards telecast

April 6       pre-empted by "Masada" mini-series (Part 2 of 2) aired: 9:00-11:00pm

April 13      "Blake Goes to Jail" #1.12
             Blake Carrington is put on trial for the murder of Steven's lover Ted and Fallon risks Steven's love in an attempt to convince the jury of her father's innocence

April 20      "The Testimony" #1.13 (SEASON FINALE)
              Blake takes the stand in his trial; Claudia reveals the details of her affair with Steven; and a surprise witness for the prosecution stuns the Carrington family

April 27      replaced by "American Dream" (new ABC series premiere), then movies and baseball coverage
